Buying Your Sedona Home
Are you a homebuyer who dreams of living in Sedona? Perhaps you plan to retire and move here permanently. Or you may be looking for a second home, even a third. If so, you’re in good company, as owners of second and third homes make up 55% of the Sedona market.
Many come from western Canada, the Midwest and New York to escape the winter. Floridians come to escape the hurricanes. Californians come to get away from the traffic and for the peace and tranquility. Oregonians come to escape the rain. And since we’re a hop, skip and a jump from Phoenix, those folks buy vacation homes for quick getaways to escape the heat. We even have people from Europe and Hawaii who buy here, despite the distance. But whatever the reason that brought you to my Web site, you’ve landed at one of the best resources on the Web to aid you in your search for a Sedona AZ home. Why?
How This Site Can Help You
It's buyer friendly in every way. This means in part that you don’t have to register to search the MLS - YEAH! . I want you to feel free to come again and again and search to your heart’s content.
And I hope that whenever you’re ready to plan a trip to view homes in person, you’ll feel comfortable enough to let me.
What You Get
If you have a question about property management, another agent might advise you to call a property manager. Not me. I’ve got such people in my IPHONE. I would say to you, “Let’s call Tina and see what Tina says.” Then I’d get her on the phone and say something like, “Tina, I’m here with Jane and John Smith looking at a house on Fabulous Texan. When can you meet with them to figure out what this home could rent for?” See the difference?
I love to negotiate. I'm like a barracuda! And I get my buyers great deals. Even in a market that is now a seller's market - I’ve saved buyers as much as 28% off the asking price. But no matter what I say about great service and the money I save buyers, nobody tells it like my buyers themselves. I have stacks of their wonderful letters, and I cherish every one. Two recent buyers are Matt and Sarah Grider from New York. Here’s their story of buying in Sedona...
After the real estate bust in the Fall of 2008, our dream of owning a retirement home in Sedona was looking like a possibility, so I started looking on Trulia for properties. I had a few questions and posted to a forum there. Within hours, Barbara had responded. I emailed her with our plans, and once again, she immediately responded, w/several options. Indeed, throughout the process, she always got back to us lightning fast.
We decided to visit Sedona, and meet w/Barbara, thinking we would look at a few properties and spend the rest of the week poking around, seeing what areas we may like to explore further. Barbara had other plans – she picked us up at 10am, on a holiday weekend, and showed us 12 properties!
With each house, she asked, “What did you like about that one and what didn’t you like?” An accomplished listener, she used our answers to hone the home selections until she zeroed in on exactly what we wanted. Number 11 was our dream home. What a delight to work with someone who actually listens!
From that point on Barbara was a whirlwind. By Friday we had: a mortgage, a site survey, a home inspection, a meeting w/a rental property manager and several estimates from contractors.
She is a tough negotiator—we are glad she was on our side!—and managed to get the sellers to take $15,000 less than the asking price. When the home inspection revealed that it needed some repairs, Barbara was a bull-dog in the best sense of the word, helping us secure several estimates from the best contractors in Sedona, and negotiating with the seller’s REALTOR® for us to be credited additional money toward those repairs.
Even though it isn’t technically part of a REALTOR’s® job responsibilities, she is currently holding on to the keys, letting those contractors in to make repairs until we can turn the house over to the property management company. Our beautiful new home couldn’t be in better hands. She has truly gone above and beyond. She’s charming and entertaining, too. You will find yourself smiling and laughing through the whole process.
Through it all Barbara has been everything one could possibly want in a REALTOR®. Friendly, hard-working, competent and VERY well-connected. This is key for folks like us, who live out-of-state. Never once did she not have an answer, for our multitude of questions. We didn’t even consider talking to any other REALTORs® – really, who could be better? Barbara should be everyone’s choice, if you’re looking for a home in Sedona.
